I think the US standard of living will drop for the first time ever.

mayhaps it already has, at the expense of massive standard of living improvements in china....

methinks, we all shall be getting used to skimpier biggering, bettering, and fastering, lest we come up with some new widgetry needed by all...

I believe there can be inflation in the prices of all things we need (food, medicines, education, rents etc.) and at the same time, deflation in the prices of all things we could do without (new cars, cruises, vacations in Hawaii etc.) and deflation in all things we own (stocks, bonds and of course, houses). But I suspect that the resulting scenario will still be called inflation.
