Change in the past year

Civilian Noninstitutional Population +3,044,000 (100%)
Civilian Labor Force +426,000 (14%)
Employed +415,000 (13.6%)
Unemployed +11,000 (0.4%)
Not In Labor Force +2,617,000 (86%)

They're severely undercounting the unemployed by reclassifying them as discouraged or uninterested. Less than 14 percent of the new entrants could find a job in the last year.

Looks I mixed up NSA and SA in yesterday's response. It should be the above using the NSA employment data for August 2007 versus August 2006. Unemployed would normally have risen by 989,00 million if the labor participation rate is held at 66.5%.
