Because the impacts of global warming are already being felt and the impacts will become hugely negative for our economy and our people within our lifetimes. I know you don't see that, but it is a fact that it is already happening. The evidence is all around us and is being documented in excruciating detail. You only have to look. It's a bit abstract when they talk about the poles melting, but when we are already seeing increased frequency and severity of hurricanes, and we will be seeing coastal areas increasingly getting flooded, and all the hundreds of billions of dollars of impact to the economy, then it will hit closer to home to you. Katrina was just the beginning. Even more importantly to the neo-cons, we are lining the pockets of the people who hate us most in the Middle East with oil-dollars. Why on earth would we want to continue doing that? Get off the oil and you stop funding Al Qaeda. Get off the oil and you help solve global warming. Get off oil and we lock in the technology and patents that will benefit our economy for decades to come. Why would you be against that?
