I'm not surprised to hear that. It's a fact that one of the ways people show their displeasure is to refuse funding things. It's evident in the Catholic church with many people cutting back on giving due to the abuses that have gone on. In the Episcopalian church both attendance and offerings were reduced when they voted regarding I believe it was a gay bishop. So, I have no doubts that Columbia University will pay for this administrative decision and unfortunately it very likely will hurt programs/students.
