we all do dumb things... my wife and kids went out for a day. I figured i would clean out the garage, it really needed it and i could use some more space. It was trash day so i figure get it to the curb and by the afternoon it will be all picked up by trash men.

the next morning my wife asks were is the bed head board that was in the garage.. i said that old thing i threw it out. shock, she just bought it the day before for one of the kids beds!

So for years every time she went out ,,, i would get the response.. no, not i love you honey,,, rather... do not throw anything out while i am gone!

Every time , even if she was off to church, before closing the door... "Do not throw anything out while i am gone."

my reply.. OK..... not good enough.... "Do you promise?"

we joke about it all the time.. However , i never threw anything out before getting it approved.

I've learned my lessons over the years. The boys used to cut the grass........oh how they complained........then my husband did it when they left. At least when I nagged him to do it even though I knew he was very busy and tired when he got home. The only reason I didn't do it is because of the equipment. I couldn't start the darned push mower. I couldn't start the darned edger/weed wacker. And even if I could I couldn't lift the darned thing. The only thing I could start was the blower. We had the cleanest driveway in the neighborhood...........but even it was a pia.

Then I got the brilliant idea to buy a little battery powered push mower that I saw in a magazine. It weighs about 20 lbs and is the easiest darned thing to push around. Then when my husband broke down and bought a new riding mower that you start with a key, I decided to try it. Easy as can be. Then one day when I was at Home Depot, I noticed that they had all of these really neat Black and Decker battery powered lawn and yard tools that are as light as a feather. So I figured if I was going to do the yard I might as well have lady sized and weighted equipment.

Now I do it all.......except the weeding. We have a lady gardener who comes in and does that plus the heavy lifting.

I've really grown to enjoy getting outside and making my yard look nice. The equipment is wonderful and easy to use. There is no gas involved since I made a deal with hubby. He fuels the riding mower and I take care of business. It is nice to get outside and do something constructive and I get a little bit of exercise too.

I was interrupted today by a phone call and then dinner. I'll finish up edging tomorrow.

And because I have a dog, I always do a once over in the yard before I start just to make sure I don't run over one of her toys.
