I hear you. But what about the vast deserts in the US? No one gives a shit what happens out there. It has been estimated that it would take a 100 mile square area filled with solar panels to provide all the electricity needs of the US. We have far more land than that in the US deserts. We probably could have already built that with the $600B we've spent in Iraq. Go figure. We'd rather pour good money after bad on people who don't give a shit about Democracy and don't share our values, rather than solving the problem right here and now. Where's the logic in that?
