Economic and demographic changes vary over time. Population and job growth occur unpredictably. At times you have more people working than you have retirees. There are other times when you may have more retirees than people employed.

There are also times when the economy goes into recession and there are fewer people employed.

For people that are good in math, it is relatively simple mathematics.
