re: I think if demand drops, oil prices will decline and China (and India) will have no reason to make changes - in fact they may increase their usage. Which is why us conservatives always harp on "economically viable" alternative energy.

The "economically viable" alternatives will be the ones that are mass produced. And the ones that are mass produced will be the products for the US and European market. You think the Chinese will make different products for their home market when than they are making for foreign markets? Not likely.

re: stop funding terrorists and worry about our needs.

That I agree with, and why I've said many times that I care passionately about oil consumption not because of GW but for economic and political reasons.

"Funding terrorists" is a red herring. "Terrorism," as we define it, is pretty low-cost. The price of the 9/11/01 attacks didn't exceed six figures.

Alternatives won't become "economically viable" until its mass produced. Because conservatives are reactionary on this issue, we haven't gotten off the dime and started mass producing alternatives that can be "economically viable".

Fuck leading, stop funding terrorists and worry about our needs.

Huh?
