Yes. My MBP fans kick in occasionally, too. But only occasionally. And never for a very long time.

The other day I was sitting with a friend in his office, and I was really distracted by the loud fan noise coming from his PC. And this was in an air conditioned room. I can't believe he lives with that noise all day every day. And I can't believe I used to live with it, too.

I have a PC sitting right next to me. I used to leave it running all the time. I would check my web designs on it, to make sure pages looked right in IE and other Windows browsers. I also used it to automatically backup my Macs over the network, using Retrospect. I now run Windows in Parallels when I need to check a web page, and I backup to external firewire drives.

The PC hasn't been turned on in over a year. The fans are just too noisy. I can't stand it.
