I was not commenting if Intel was going to make any money selling WiMax chips. Intel has the advantage of the first mover, but it remains to be seen if it will have a sustainable advantage since there are plenty of other players. I agree that for the last twenty five years Intel has not made significant money outside x86 processors.

However Intel pioneered Ethernet also. It may not have made much money from that. But the Ethernet enormously expanded the desktop computer market, and destroyed the mainframe business, and both Intel and AMD benefitted immensely from that. WiFi is fast expanding the laptop market, and WiMax will further expand that and the market for mini laptops etc. That will benefit both Intel and AMD.

Irrespective of the Intel/AMD ups and downs,WiMax will be a winner. I am continuing to look for more investments in the WiMax arena.
