No need to understand retail. Two decades ago, one would need to be rich to choose clothes by its design or style. You'd buy whatever you could afford and had a really small wardrobe.

Perhaps not even clothes according the seasons of the year, you would pile up clothes on your body to make you warm in winter.

Because spending on clothes makes today a small part of the spending -thanks to Globalization- clothes are now fashion. Therefore it is now a matter of you get the right outfit, create a "modism" and everyone buys it. You make gazillions and then you fade away.

Conservative people, will buy quality cum style but not what is the fashion of the day. Therefore some brands stay on top for a long time since they have a captive market.

Thus it is necessary to establish that niche where you sell good quality and good style on a steady manner.
