Funny thing is, even if the troops were there, I can't imagine anybody at this stage claiming they'd be welcome with sweets and flowers, or whatever the line was from the pre-Iraq-war days. Of course, I'm somewhat remiss in keeping up with Podhoretz / Leeden style objective reporting, along with the further reaches of the warblogosphere, so my concept of "anybody" is probably hampered by my reality-based community biases.

The other funny thing is, with oil supplies tight at $80 a barrel, I don't think anybody much wants to see what would happen if Iranian production went the way of Iraq's. But there, again, my "anybody" frame is probably too limiting.
