You might be right. Part of the reason why I don't go for senior debt is that I have no clue how/where to buy it and what it implies.

I think Marty Whitman is a wiz in this area so TAVFX is my path to senior notes, distressed situations and bankruptcies. TAVFX has not bought anything in housebuilding area yet: neither equity nor notes. But this does not mean much - Marty is big on office REITs and he may think that these offer better prospects.

I may need to look at Bill Miller's comments on his investments. I think he had some money in homebuilders, so I wonder if he is buying/selling/holding or what. :)
