Mike, I think you'll find that GM has hired at least one or two people in the last decade. "Not hiring" doesn't mean nobody is hired.

And if they aren't hiring, that means it's better to work at Toyota because management is so bad at GM that it's not possible to put a bid in for a job with them. Not being able to bid for something means the management is bad.

Unions do try to strangle companies to death, and kill the goose that lays the golden egg. Sometimes they succeed. It's amusing to see unions do that. Ansett unions did it to their company in New Zealand. Somebody else soon fills the gap if a management can't run their business well.
