Pushing for regulation can mean they get to influence exactly what is regulated and how, rather than having it imposed on them over their objections.


Of course it's a surprise. Corps have been fighting regulation forever. But they know they have to change to adapt to the current realities. And they can't do it alone or they wouldn't be on a level playing field. So they are looking to the government in it's traditional role as representative of the people.

Unfortunately no one is home in the regulation dept. of the Bush admin. So they are left to wing it.
