Here you can see that monthly production is about where it was in 2005.

Which says nothing about the increase in production over the past eight years. Note: I didn't pick that time frame, John did.

This graph shows that about 1980 or so the production hit a local maxima that isn't much, if any, below where it was in 2000.

But those local maxima were below current production.
