I spent an hour on the runway in DFW on Wednesday because the air corridors were too crowded; had to fly down near Houston and over New Orleans to get to DC.....totally stupid in the era of satellite GPS.

They spent a lot of money to upgrade the systems.

But the spending was one of the most poorly managed large non-emergency programs in recent federal government history. They got little or nothing for a ton of money.

As for Reagan's actions against strikers who had a no-strike contract. That was 26 years ago. Most of the people who where fire would have retired by now. It seems a bit much to blame current problems on that issue, and even if it was largely related to that issue its a bit one sided to blame it all on Reagan. Also about 1500 controllers returned to work and where not fired, and there are many current controllers who where not hired at that time. Also the replacements are different ages, and have different amounts of federal service. A number of them have already quit or retired, others don't all retire at the same time.
