GM dismantled the light rail systems in American cities

This post was about a different conspiracy theory but it applies to yours as well

Message 22426401;

There is a great deal of evidence to support the notion that GM encouraged the dismantling of rail lines in the US while encouraging the creation of bus systems [without competition] to take their place which benefited them financially. After all, GM doesn't do well under competition.......as clearly evidenced by their continued decline over the past 30 years. So while Europe and Japan strengthened and improved their mass transit systems, the US allowed its systems to decay and subsequently be destroyed. Conspiracy or no conspiracy, someone or something was responsible for the very different scenario that developed in the US.

If you don't think its GM and the gov't working together, then provide me with a reasonable alternative. TIA.
