My studies of Kazakhstan have shown that the key is to be allied with the powerful families. Whether that is the mafia or not, I'll let you decide. For instance, although TMY has been a total screwup on many levels, especially in terms of getting production up to profitable levels, I am not worried about confiscation because they are partially owned by one of the powerful families. Analogously, the visit by the prez speaks volumes. You know he won't be doing a photo op at the oilfield where they are putting the screws to ENI. LC
