It occurs to me that Newt may have sounded out some old bulls of the party to see if they would support him over others and he got the wrong answer. Maybe he was advised, too, that his personal negatives are just too high.

who knows.

I think Newt's opinion of his role as savior of the party next year might not be shared by all
