From my personal experience, Toshiba laptops have the best quality, by far. Apple and the others aren't nearly as durable, which is the #1 quality I look for in a laptop.

I am pretty sure that Quanta makes Apple laptops. It isn't surprising that Quanta makes the majority of laptops sold. I think that Compal has the Toshiba contract, though I'm not positive.

I repeat. I have had no problems with the hardware! having problems with the battery is like having problems with my local power company. Or maybe my local gas station blew up.

>>so, he says he had "No problems with hardware" but then mentions a problem with hardware! if that is not dismissive, i don't know what is.<<

It may be dismissive, but he's still including the mention of it in his assessment. Also, a battery recall doesn't equate to a hardware problem. The fact that his battery was part of a batch that was recalled doesn't mean he had a problem with it.

Of course, the one swelling battery would be a hardware problem. So basically what he was saying was that among a great number of machines, he had experienced one small hardware problem, and that was with a part that was easily replaceable. One can see why he'd be dismissive of such a minor problem.

If you had owned 9 Ford automobiles, and the only problem you had had with them was a flat tire once, you would probably say that you believed Fords were reliable cars. And if you did, no one would accuse you of being a self-deluding cultist, or anything remotely similar.
