My guess is that as RTO's get better and as incremental demand increases, RTO's will lean on CC earlier in day and more often.

Before if there was a question about whether demand was going to be satisfied with CC or peaker the situation may have leant itself to a peaker if the need arose.

Now with more CC's you can bring them up incrementally, you can vary their load without huge efficiency losses. 1 gt + 1 st then 2 gt + 1 st, etc.

If your load profile is increasing across the day it is easier to bring these on. They have a longer start up time.

Besides it is clear as more demand is satisfied with ng it is going to be with baseloaded CC plants.
