VP, I have a great deal of respect for Gene Arensberg. He is the ONLY pundit I've ever seen who uses the same metric for evaluating the silver market that I've used for over 35 years. It's as esoteric as hell, but it works and has NEVER let me down. Obviously it hasn't him either. (Grin) Thanks for sharing his talking points with me, as I hadn't opened that email account notice from R.I. to find Gene's newest column URL which you just provided. One of the ways Gene A has "earned his stripes" with me is by the additional data/grfx he provides. This indicates to me research has been conducted before he collects his thoughts and submits his column(s.) I wouldn't change a jot nor tittle in my talking points enumerated earlier, even with the mighty Gene. The 2 problems with responding to Gene or any other "peeble" commentator including the irritating Jon Nones is that once someone disagrees with them in public format such as "commentary to their column" opportunity, they have to save face, i.e., defend themselves, aka an adversarial positioning of the original writer. That is a "him Tarzan, me Jane's Toejelly." Besides, one hardly ever gets a response to their "commentary" and the whole exchange just dies. These commentators don't want to discuss anything, they just want to put out their best thots in a column, meet a deadline, and then move to the next column deadline. That's the way they make their living. I'm just pragmatic about the "commentary" proces, that's all. If you want your friend to read my commentary and respond to any of my talking points, by all means, email him with the URL. I would enjoy hearing his responses. Now, I'll go digest his newest contribution and see if any of my talking points are already responded to. I obviously believe Gene A is actually IN the gold game, so he will be just fine, but only if he doesn't get "cute" or "too clever by 1/2" and try to short term scalp this thing. Then he'll join the landscape strewn with gutted offal of other "short term players" as I predicted. Nice to call someone of his ilk, your friend, V.P. Very nice indeed. I also find it quite interesting you tried to set me up, by pitting me against Arensberg just to see what I'd say. You do get your jollys however you can, don't you??? HAHAHAHAHA! G_T
