These kids coming out of rural asia study day and night. I saw that in China this summer. Competition for the 'better' schools is tough at best. I have an issue though with all study.. When I get my kids' report cards I am just as interested in the teacher commentary as the marks. This year my kid worked as a junior leader at specialized art camp where she had previously been a camper for many years. She got a glowing review and and a testimonial letter from the Parks department to boot. I believe these things also have a lot of collateral as well as showing good character/confidence development etc. Smart is not enough. I'd gladly sacrifice a few points for the ancillary development ;O) (but not too many :O) blackie
