Some states are controlled by one party. It is interesting that the supposedly stupid states in flyover country seem more likely to elect democrats than the supposedly enlightened and independent minded states of the NE and West coast. About the only exception to that is RI and Chaffee, but he is a RINO. I would suggest that in democrat strongholds your comment is more true than in Republican controlled states.
