But what is interesting now is that important people within the US administration see that the idea of splitting Iraq is not feasible. And indeed, other than for the Kurds, Iraqis don't want it either. It is thus clear that the so-called sectarian violence between the Sunnis and Shiites which the US has been promoting all along will fail to produce the necessary result, namely the desire of all parties for partition.
