Re: (a) the US/Israeli stand-off with Iran is merely a proxy for a much wider conflict between the US and China and, of course, the US and Russia

You can write off Russia. Although she can't blurt it out publicly, Russia and Israel are eye to eye on the Iranian issue. Russia's worst nightmare is to see her influence in Central Asia (the "stans") eaten away by two Muslim nuclear powers --Pakistan and Iran.

Re: (b) because the US can never win against China or Russia, it would be silly to start anything with Iran.

I still cling to my "pet theory": any Judeofascist (US/Israel) move against Iran will trigger a Chinese move against Taiwan with the latter utterly isolated as far as Asia is concerned. That is to say that neither Japan nor South Korea nor the Philippines nor Singapore nor Malaysia nor Indonesia nor the Sultanate of Brunei nor Vietnam nor Thailand nor Cambodia nor Laos will stand up against China and for Taiwan...

At that point, if the US pushes its luck by taking on both Iran and China then South America will be "activated" and the war will be extended to the US heartland...
