You seem to be equating "the US remains in Iraq" with "the US controls politics in Iraq". They are not the same. The first is a fact, the second is your mistaken assumption.
No it is not an assumption. On the surface it looks like the Iraqis are making the decisions, however those decisions are handed to them by the US administration.
Saying that people are responsible for the decisions that they make in life is not a judgement of mine. It's a commonly accepted principle for anyone who accepts the idea of personal responsibility.
You are casting judgment with no regards to any circumstances.
