Its not only 'near impossible', its not even the case or ever could be the case that an invading army would build an autonomous government for another culture. We have some responsibility for supporting their security forces until they are able to stand on their own and some responsibility for supporting the infrastructure; but the USA does not have any responsibility for rebuilding the Iraqi government. It is an insult to Iraqis for anyone to think they are not a self determining and autonomous people.

Yeah, I agree. Haven't you read my 32 posts to Sarman today explaining how Iraqis are responsible for Iraqi on Iraqi violence? They are reaping what they sow - a stable peaceful society, or a killing field - it's up to them. We outsiders are just trying to keep a lid on the pot, it's them that decides whether the soup boils, simmers, or is served chilled.
