BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - China will step up cooperation with other nations to brink to task any multinational firms that are involved in bribery cases, the China Daily reported, citing a communist party official.

'China will strengthen its cooperation with other countries to expose and punish multinationals who are engaged in commercial bribery in the country,' the paper quoted Li Yufu, a Communist Party corruption fighter as saying.

Li also said that China will do more to bring about the extradition of corrupt officials who have escaped abroad.

The warning came as the Supreme People's Court announced that the nation's courts had dealt with 4,406 commercial bribery cases in the first seven months of 2007, up 8.2 pct from the same period last year.
