Right... the point being that you can't pick a winner based on national polls 3+ months before the first primary. Iowa and New Hampshire have an over sized influence; they don't determine the winner but can put a also ran into the drivers seat. And I don't think Kerry was EVER leading Iowa until caucus day. Maybe a day before or something.

The press want to appoint Hill based on national polls but it's still up in the air.
