Good article.

But while Republicans have not found themselves yet, and may not necessarily find themselves by 2008 election, I would not assume that this is something permanent. All GOP needs is to nominate Rudy, and hopefully get him elected. The process of GOP finding itself will start in 2008.

Short of that, it will take a few excesses of Dem Congress and GOP being in minority in Congress will help them realize when (approx 1999) the congressional GOP went wrong and how (by abandoning fiscally conservative policies).
