Have you ever asked an american whether they want you to give you the power to launch perpetual war in which their sons and dsughters die while the rest of us feast on lobster? The US is powerful but not all powerful. We may be able to fight anyone and everyone but we are not guaranteed victory nor can we guarantee the continuance of our democracy. Go ask a Pole. They will tell you how bad the nazis and communists were and how happy they are now. Through it all, they looked to america for spiritual guidance perhaps as much as they looked toward the church. By being there and speaking out we did much. They also know that post WW2, american choices were limited and that WW3 would have been fought once again on their territory and many more would have died.
