My take is that both thought the smoke filled rooms approach is what they were dealing with. In other words, there was a public display of being dogmatic, but behind closed doors pragmatism ruled. What they didn't expect was public and private were the same thing. Now the former attitude is pretty cynical, but it works. The latter, well, it is the signature neo approach.

If that's true what you say about them, then that makes them worse than the people they profess not to like. After all, they continue to cover up for them and Greenspan very publicly said he was voting for a GOPer next year.

Tonite, A. Cooper was discussing Philadelphia which is the new murder capital of the US......it seems to be 'an honor' that rotates from year to year from one US city to another. Philadelphia wants to put into place tougher gun control laws but they can't because the state passed a law that won't allow PA cities to strengthen their laws pertaining to guns. In that same state law, they made it as easy to acquire an AK-47 as it is to acquire a pistol.

What does this have to do with Greenspan and Powell? I think both examples are symptomatic of the decay in American society. None of it makes a lot of sense but nonetheless it exists.
