It's actually written into the "save our homes" law here that they don't go down when property values go down. I'm not complaining... the save our homes has been very good for me... but for other people that bought closer to the top it's a bitch.

My wife and i looked at a house the other day that we just loved (built in 1920's with a lot of cool workmanship). It would probably be about a wash as far as value... but our insurance would be up in the air and could easily double, and our taxes would certainly double. Handcuffed... a good part of the reason the FL real estate market is soooo bad.
