My favorite inflation story --a true story-- was the bank robber who had all the cash put into a big paper bag. When he ran out of the bank, there was a downpour going on. After he had run one block his bag was wet and starting to fall apart. There was someone on the corner with an umbrella. "I'll give you a hundred dollars for that umbrella," he said.

Thus the famous saying amongst bankers when in trouble:

Problems For Banks, Problems For You?
globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com
Anyone with money at Netbank over the FDIC limit can kiss it goodbye. Problems are now brewing at BKUNA with nonperforming assets. BKUNA just warned but loan loss provisions are a joke. At Citigroup, provisions for consumer credit losses tripled. Bank balance sheets need to be watched. Be wary of high rate CDs especially in regards to FDIC limits.
