Shag bark, shell bark, many hickory species. When I was doing inventory in Ohio, we only had to record the Genus of hickory because the value was low and there were many species. That was a mistake, because hickory is now valuable and has suffered a decline that we can't track as well because we don't have the species specific data from the 60s.

I always hated to bore in to hickory because they were so hard it was difficult. Once a hickory peed on me. I got the bore in, and there was a reservoir of stinky water inside, which came out in a stream so powerful I couldn't get out of the way.
