Sounds like you are looking for Unclewest's old stomping grounds. Coeur D'alene.

I haven't skied for years, but there is Schweitzer Basin in North Idaho. schweitzer.com I skied there when I lived at Bonners Ferry, only one time. It's great. North Idaho has been discovered and Coeur d'Alene Lake and Pend O'reille Lake are nearby, driving up the price of real estate. You should check though because I may be in error.

I'm guessing that if cheaper real estate is important that you might try the Kellogg area. They have a great gondola lift at Silver Mountain. I rode on it once, in the summer. It's pretty exciting. silvermt.com The area is still recovering from the aftermath of mine closures and smelter fumes, but it's worth a look.

Mt. Spokane has a ski run, but I know nothing about it.

Fishing is everywhere, so no problem there.

We've family who live near Boise....They LOVE it! Actually in Eagle....Very healthy environment, all sorts of outdoor activities, especially if you love river rafting... Don't know if they have a State income tax, don't think so, but in general their taxes are a good deal lower than here....Lots of house for the money....nice people there! Hot in the summer, lots of sunshine, cold in winter, with snow. No ocean close, unfortunately....

They like McCall near Sun Valley too...

I have family in MT. Californians escaping CA are bringing their propositions and nonsense that they are trying to escape to MT. It will be as bad as CO before long I'm afraid.
