We sold him (and many of the other countries in the area) weapons. That isn't the same as providing military aid. The weapons were not free.

Also we were far from his top supplier. Russia was by far the biggest, France and China combined had the majority of the rest of Iraq's weapons purchases. The US wasn't number 3, and I think it may not have been in the top 5.


We did give him some aid. And are you okay with selling weapons to a not so nice dictator? Do you think that's okay for American policy?
