That is sad. I will note in passing that all the optimism that Iraqis felt in 2005 is reported now, but was not reported then. However, the poll is not broken down at all by region, which gives a misleading picture, esp if most of the people questioned are from Baghdad (all those interviewed were). Baghdad turned into a war zone last year and is still a war zone, though there is some slow progress. Anbar, however, is decidedly better now that the insurgency is basically over there, and Kurdistan was and remains in great shape. Plus over half the Shia part of the country never saw any violence to begin with.

But if they broke it down by region they might have to say something positive. Wouldn't want that, would we?
