Maple Leafs are valued by Indians because of their purity and familiarity. Indians buy a lot of retail gold, and since there are Indian communities all over the globe, Maple leafs are probably a better choice than Eagles when it is time to sell.

With gold under $1000, the premiums for certain dates may be important.

When/if gold goes sky high, I expect those date premiums will go flat. What you want then is a familiar coin to sell. Besides the one ounce versions, you might wish to consider the 1/2 ounce and 1/4 ounce version. Who knows who much USD money one ounce will represent if gold takes off ?
