Wayne, I think I said lefties, not democrats. If I did say democrats, I done misspoke. <G> Most of the folks who support Paul are lefties, but most are not democrats. I myself am a leftie, but find The Democratic Party way too far to the right on the important issues to make them viable, except that the one alternative is much worse. Nearly everyone I know who supports Paul, a small minority of whom post on this thread, are to the left. You are the major exception. Most of my conservative friends consider him a left wing nut job.

I do not support Paul. I like him better than most candidates, but find him quaint, a poor debater (both Giuliani and Huckabee slam dunked him in the debates, even though he was right and they were wrong) and probably not all that bright. Smarter than Ford and Reagan and Dumbya Bush, probably, but not up to Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Clinton. Being smart does not make you a good President, but it helps.

Paul and Libertarians are much further left than you believe. On economic issues, the left hates corporate welfare, illegal immigration (which destroys the American worker's bargaining power) and the Fed. The right loves all of these things. A few may dislike illegal immigration, but not enough to revolt against their corporate masters. Righties are revolting, but they don't revolt. <G>

A Democrat can simply not win in Paul's district. A Republican who acts like a Democrat, can. Which is why so may lefties love Paul.

Nobody on the left thinks they can upset the Republican nominating process. That process is the one true Puritan ideal, predestination. There is no freedom in whom the GOP nominates. It is an annointing.

Remember, Greenspan and Bednarke are both Republicrooks. They're your boys and we lefties don't like them. Some lefties like Rubin, but many do not. There are no real lefties from Goldman Sachs who went on to Citigroup.

However, Wayne, I am happy that you are supporting a leftist candidate, even though I am probably going to support someone else.
