You can get it wet. I wet mop mine all the time. Soaked, now that's a different story. I had a humidifier spring a leak and before I realized it, a small area under the thing had swollen above the surrounding area. While it was still wet, I stacked a cinderblock on top of the swelling. Helped a little, but didn't return to the original size. Now, I have a strategically placed TV stand over that area, although you have to know where it is to even see it when exposed.
