They try to mollify us by having a couple of recycle days where we have to haul all the pine debris to a central location, where they chip it. It's actually pretty well done, but is wholly inadequate for the actual task. The people who defined our area as an urban growth area do not have a clue as to how much energy is laying around in the back yards here waiting for a running fire to sweep through. On the other hand, many people who burn don't have a clue how to do it properly. When I get done, I have almost no residue. My objectionable smoke comes in spurts, but most of the time it's invisible from the streets.
