what happened was java corp bought an old line IBM mainframe "tape" and storage company, became a screwdriver shop, piecing together amd and intel based server boxes, changed it's symbol, announced it's intention to reverse split, called their customers ignorant, and finally, became a Microsoft distributor. that, I believe, was the last straw for many of the "faithful". other than that, things are pretty much status quo.
