Big news. For a pal state to have any legitimacy, there must be a presence in Jerusalem. At the point where israeli and palestinian jerusalem meet, a building should be built to resolve non political issues as well as regional initiatives. Abbas' loss of Gaza is more than made up for with getting a piece of Jerusalem. It will serve as a magnet to Gaza that will either moderate Hamas or force them out of power there. I would think rejectionists will do all they can in the interim to force israel not to do this with terror attacks. Hopefully that will fail. No more greater israel, no more terrorism, universal recognition for both states at the same time by folks like saudi arabia. Hopefully iran will somehow see this as satisfying their requirements too. That probably will take awhile longer.

"Or maybe they're just giving land away...."

More accurately, giving land BACK, as east Jerusalem was Pal land - it was intended to be the capitol of Palestine. The Zionists, so clever to steal land, then make up by giving it BACK!
