"My kids are paying for FDR's war"

Actually, no.

(WW II debt has been eliminated by now... all bonds paid off. The 90% top income tax bracket during the war and later years might have had something to do with that. That and the surging post-war economy and growing population.)

"... and their kids and grand kids will be paying for LBJ's 2 wars, one of which is still adding to the debt."

And, ain't that a damn dirty shame! (PLS don't forget to include the Reagan/Bush/Clinton/Bush federal deficits into that list of shame though --- especially the Bushs, who have more then *doubled* the entire national debt from left from ALL PREVIOUS PRESIDENTS, from more then 200 years of American history.)

PS - LBJ actually left extremely little national debt from his four years (believe he ran a modest deficit his final year only). After all: he mostly PAID for what he spent in the Vietnam War with his 10% income tax surcharge.

PPS --- uncontrolled federal deficits DO MATTER. (Despite con jobs whatever loony, lying fools may try to sucker the public with....)
