Nadine, posting to you is like taking the needle off an old record. When it's over the needle goes back down in the same groove and the same old tune plays as though it had never been interrupted.

For just once, instead of playing the same old tired tune relying on straw men and unmerited assumptions regarding what people said, why don't you try reading what they actually said.

For instance, in this case why don't you read my post and the two articles I cited. If you did you might see why it is that the "Baathist" insurgency is in actuality a desperate "Sunni" insurgency that has little or nothing to do with "putting the Baathists back in power."

In addition, you might see why it is that neither the Sunnis nor the Shiites are seriously attempting "reconciliation."

In fact, you might actually begin to understand that there is not now, nor will there ever be the kind of "central government" in Iraq that can survive as a democratically governed nation.

And, once you begin to grasp those basic understandings then you will understand how silly our whole notion of "victory" in Iraq has been and continues to be.

Then maybe you'll turn red with shame and then a pasty white with remorse when you reflect on your strident cheerleading of this senseless, baseless and bloody episode in US history. Or maybe not. Ed

Are you an idiot? They will exploit the Americans take their weapons and money and turn back on them. How many times the Americans should fall for the same trick before they learn the lesson
