The mullahs know how to play this game against us.

And we don't know how to hit back. We will pinprick a few of their armament factories, like LBJ in the 60's and wait for their reaction. We should forget that and go for the head of the snake.

Three JDAM's though the front, back and side door of the Mullah's Assembly hall when they are gathered for a meeting.

Don't hold your breath waiting for this to happen.

If we had told the Vietnamese that we would close Hanoi harbor with mines and take out their Hydroelectric with B-52's in '65, it would have been all over. We wouldn't have had to put one Division in the South.

But Nooooooooooo!

Iran won't openly retaliate with its own hand.

That's true - if they're smart. Watching and listening to Ajad, however, I'm not sure how smart they would be in those circumstances.

Assuming they're smart, when the oblique attacks come, presumably it will be evident to everyone that Iran is behind them. If truck bombs go off in US cities after Iran is hit, it wouldn't take a high IQ to connect the dots.

Then again, maybe I'm overestimating the US public here. And it's true that Bush has very little capital/credibility left with the average voter, so it might be a push.

So, to net it out, I take your point. And we don't need a replay of the Vietnam scenario.
