amazon is great because its one stop shopping. It has accomplished numerous suppliers of goods so anyone can go on line and search and buy something quickly. it also gives you prices to compare , free shipping depending on price, no sales tax. What is there not to like about amazon if you do not want to fight crowds in malls.

I expect the stock continues to move forward as most are expectly another huge lift in on line shopping, along with advertising this xmas.

amazon is only great until someone else comes up with a better competitive on line store. I wouldn't hold it in my portfolio, as i use it for comparison price shopping against other web sites.

actually I don't agree with you re:AMZN... but AAPl, RIMM and even GOOG have a lot of new products and the amazon new products are mostly that onebox stuff which I don't think will take off so amazon doesn't excite me as much here.

Amazon is very smart. They keep adding things that are worth buying online.

For example I just bought well over $100 worth of belts for my belt sander. Tried helldepot and lowes which are clueless, just clueless, about online selling. The lights are on but no one is home. I'll be buying an expensive sander and router this year but not from them!

You can buy stuff cheaper but Amazon relatively is effortless and safe. Depends on what you are buying. Great reviews of products.

They still make very VERY stupid mistakes though. It seems that techie types just do not get usability. It's unbelievable.

useit.com estimated that 60% of online sales are lost because of poor usability.

For example when you buy from Office Depot they don't tell you how much shipping is until after you fill out all their forms. They lost my money for that reason today. Just don't want to hassle with it.

This is not rocket science. There are plenty of books and sites devoted to this. These companies have been around long enough to know better. I'd fire the guy who runs the site if I was an exec at OD.

Staples doesn't tell if you have to pay sales tax until you fill out all the forms. They got my money today but left a bad taste in my mouth.

Amazon is coy about shipping too.

Ebay is the worst of all. Mostly to sellers.

Amazon is a smart company but I would not put Amazon in the class of the other horsemen. Certainly not at a P/E of 132. If they got everything together though they might be.

Apple is very good at online, but they've slipped a bit.
